Vertical Stabilizer – Day 1 – 2 Hours

Today, I final drilled all holes in the rear spar and prepped the ribs (fluted, de-burred, and straightened the flanges). The VS is a cakewalk compared to the HS. All holes except two are already drilled and just need to be final drilled to size. I finished today with cleco-ing the skeleton together. I was quite pleased that Van’s now cuts the lightening holes in the rear spar doubler for you (see the big circles on the back of the spar in the first picture below). On older builder sites I’ve been to, this was something the builder had to do. This cuts a few hours out of the work.
