Horizontal Stabilizer – Day 17 – 4 Hours

Today was a great day of progress on the plane. I finished de-burring the holes in the skins and dimpled the skins. I had a little time left so I de-burred the edges of the spar and skins as well. I’m so close to being able to rivet it all together. Tomorrow, I will, hopefully, get all the priming done. I decided to prime the internal skeleton even though Vans says this is optional. I live in a desert climate; however, it is also next to the Great Salt Lake. Who knows? Maybe I’ll move someday. Also, with all the flanging, fluting, de-burring, etc. I find it nearly impossible to not put scratches on the ribs. I think it would be better to just sand/scotch-brite these out, scuff the parts and prime it. I’ve opted to use the rattle can method.

Everything is almost all ready to be primed.
