Horizontal Stabilizer – Day 19 – 2 Hours

A very exciting day. Spent about an hour priming. Got the hang of it pretty quickly. I have seen a bunch of people make a painting frame out of 2 x 4s and chicken wire. I’m definitely going to build one of these in the future. I used a plastic covered 4 x 8 sheet of ply wood on saw horses. I like the Dupli-Color primer just fine. 1 hour later you can barely scratch it and it’s a nice army green color.

I had some time left so I decided to get to work on riveting the rear spar together. Yep. 90% of this project is going to be everything but, the riveting. Took an hour (for a newbie like me) with a pneumatic squeezer. Tomorrow, I should have time to get the front spar assembly done and then I can get the skins on.

Every builder has a few goofy shots of them riveting. I figured I’d be no exception.

Finished rear spar (except the bolts that old the center bearing on still need to be torqued. Gotta get a torque wrench.).

(I’m well aware that I need a hose reel)
