Today, I took a nice flight out to practice some short and soft field takeoffs and landings with my friend John and then I got started on the riveting.
Here is the first bucked rivet of the project. Up to this point I’ve been able to “squeeze” the rivets. This is a little intimidating at first but by the time I was done with the top of the left side, It was pretty easy. I practiced on a few scraps first:
Top side of the middle nose rib is fully riveted:
Now both sides are riveted:
First blind “Pop” rivet of the project. A tight squeeze but not too difficult:
Front spar is fully riveted to the top of the skin:
Finished for the day at this point. Only had to drill out 2 rivets.
