Rudder – Day 16 – 1.5 hours

I found a good substitute for a close quarters bucking bar. I took a mason’s chisel smoothed the face of it. Worked like a charm. Still couldn’t get to the last rivets on both ribs. Had to use pop rivets for those.

The chisel did kinda beat the hell out of my priming job. I will sand this and re-prime before covering with the fiberglass tips. IMG_1074

After that I decided to make another attempt at countersinking the AEX/trailing edge wedge. This time, I laid the old one and the new one together so that I could countersink straight down. It worked great. I flipped it over and did the other side and didn’t notice the the two were sliding apart. I had a whole series of oblong holes happening. Well. I trashed this one and ordered another. I looked a up a few other methods on Van’s Air Force dot net and saw that some made a jig using a scrap wedge. I am going to try that and use the drill press.
