Rudder #2 – Day 8 – 2 hours/ Elevator – Day 7 – 1 hour

For the rudder, today I used the AEX wedge as a guide to drill the aluminum angle I will be using for keeping the trailing edge straight while the sealant dries. This went pretty fast and turned out so much better than the first time I attempted this. Next, I clecoed the AEX wedge to the skins and final drilled the skins. With this out of the way, I trimmed the rudder horn brace and fabricated the attach strips and match drilled them in place. Then took every thing apart. Was able to get some parts deburred and dimpled but, will finish this up tomorrow.

I felt like riveting just to take my mind off all the mind numbing drilling and deburring so I riveted all the platenuts to the elevator trim access panel understructure/stiffener which goes on the bottom of the left elevator. The ears of the plate nuts had to be dimpled to fit the dimples on the access panel. Looks pretty nice.
