Elevator – Day 10 – 3 hours

Today, I built a bending brake out of a 2×8 and some hinges and put the final bends in the trailing edges. It was a pretty uneventful process. I had to push a lot harder than I though I would.

The goal is to have no taper in the bend prior to the radius of the bend. In other words, it shouldn’t look all bulged.

Here we are getting ready to bend. I put a 1/8″ dowel along the inside of the trailing edge. I’ve seen other builders do this with great success:
